Golden-fried Sweet Corn Balls

Not much context behind this dish really. The rain was on, the frying wok was taken out, some corn and veggies were mashed into a ball, and were golden fried to perfection. Simple, yum, fun!

Ingredients (for 10 - 12 balls)

4 boiled potato - mashed
1/2 cup boiled sweetcorn
1/2 cup chopped carrot
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup bread crumbs or 2 slices of bread
2 green chillies finely chopped
1 inch piece of ginger finely chopped
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp freshly crackled black pepper
salt as per taste

For covering layer
1 tbsp all purpose flour
black pepper
water to achieve thick consistency

Oil for frying


1. Mix all the ingredients and form round balls with dia around 1 inch to 1.5 inches.

2. Mix all purpose flour with little water to form a thick batter. Add salt and pepper to it as per taste.

3. Roll balls into the batter and deep fry in hot oil.

4. Take them out when golden brown.

Serve with ketchup and a hot cup of tea on a rainy evening!
